New Zine: Mob Work: Anarchists in Grand Rapids, Vol. 1

We’re very excited to announce the publication of a new zine titled “Mob Work: Anarchists in Grand Rapids, Volume 1.” The zine is the first zine in a four volume set that explores the history of anarchists in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In this first volume, there is an overview of the project and the history of anarchists in Grand Rapids, an exploration of the German anarchists in the 1880s, a look at the well-known anarchist Voltairine de Cleyre who lived in Grand Rapids during an important period in her political development, a bit about the Detroit area anarchist Jo Labadie who spoke in Grand Rapids and contributed to newspapers published in the city, and the repression that followed the assassination of President William McKinley. These stories that have largely gone untold, few know of the presence of an armed group of German anarchists who held target practice on the outskirts of Grand Rapids or that Voltairine de Cleyre was a prominent lecturer in West Michigan who eventually edited a freethought newspaper called The Progressive Age.

We will be releasing the additional titles over the next few weeks.

As always, you can download the zine and print or yourself or get in touch for mail order.
